چکیده
Microbial-induced CaCO3 precipitation (MICP) is an innovative and rapidly developing technology for sand solidification. The idea this research project was built based on the concept of sustainable development environmental protection. specific material used solidification soluble calcium ions generated by reaction limestone waste, a kind calcium-rich industrial waste from quarry, acetic acid. Using Ca(CH3COO)2 (prepared waste) as source resulted in 31.87% lower MICP cost compared to using CaCl2. An unconfined compressive strength (UCS) test conducted characterize macroscopic mechanical properties bio-cured columns. mineral composition microstructure columns were examined X-ray diffraction (XRD) scanning electron microscopy (ESEM). After response surface optimization, optimal conditions CH3COOH determined, acetate yield up 96.81%. UCS samples treated with limestone/acetic acid 10.61% higher than that chloride. This confirmed feasibility cheap source, instead chloride, solidifying process.

Biotic and abiotic effects on CO2 sequestration during microbially-induced calcium carbonate precipitation.
In this study, CO2 sequestration was investigated through the microbially-induced calcium carbonate precipitation (MICP) process with isolates obtained from a cave called 'Cave Without A Name' (Boerne, TX, USA) and the Pamukkale travertines (Denizli, Turkey). The majority of the bacterial isolates obtained from these habitats belonged to the genera Sporosarcina, Brevundimonas, Sphingobacterium ...
متن کاملCalcium Carbonate Precipitation for CO2 Storage and Utilization: A Review of the Carbonate Crystallization and Polymorphism
The transformation of CO2 into a precipitated mineral carbonate through an ex situ mineral carbonation route is considered a promising option for carbon capture and storage (CCS) since (i) the captured CO2 can be stored permanently and (ii) industrial wastes (i.e., coal fly ash, steel and stainless-steel slags, and cement and lime kiln dusts) can be recycled and converted into value-added carbo...
متن کاملCalcium Carbonate Dissolution Rate in Limestone Contactors
The project summarized here investigated some of the parameters and relationships used to predict the performance of limestone contactors. The purpose of the project was to study the effect of limestone composition, especially the dolomite [CaMg(CO 3) 2 ] and impurity content of the stone, on the kinetics of carbonate mineral dissolution and to determine the effect of temperature on the rate of...
متن کاملSequestration of Radionuclides and Metal Contaminants through Microbially-Induced Carbonate Precipitation
Microbially induced carbonate precipitation (MICP), an emerging technology for soil improvement, also may be used to sequester (biomineralize) radionuclides and metal contaminants (e.g., 90 Sr 2+ , Cd 2+ ) in groundwater, a significant problem at some U.S. Department of Energy sites. Previous work using the bacterium Bacillus pasteurii suggests that in-situ sequestration of these contaminants c...
متن کاملMicrobially Induced Calcite Precipitation Employing Environmental Isolates
In this study, five microbes were employed to precipitate calcite in cohesionless soils. Four microbes were selected from calcite-precipitating microbes isolated from calcareous sand and limestone cave soils, with Sporosarcina pasteurii ATCC 11859 (standard strain) used as a control. Urease activities of the four microbes were higher than that of S. pasteurii. The microbes and urea-CaCl₂ medium...
